    Robinhood

    Robinhood was the first commission-free investing app. It was the first company to offer free trading, and it has made it a focus to keep investing as simple as possible. 

    Top Features

    • High cash APY reserved for Robinhood Gold: You can earn 1.5% APY on uninvested cash. But if you are a Robinhood Gold member, you can earn 3.35% on your uninvested cash.
    • Robinhood Retirement: You can earn up to a 3% match for every dollar you contribute toward retirement. But this is a limited-time offer for Robinhood Gold members.
    • Fractional shares: The Robinhood platform supports fractional shares. 

    Fees

    Robinhood offers commission-free investing for stocks, ETFs, and options. The company earns money through the subscription-based Robinhood Gold account, which comes with access to things like margin trading. That $5 per month subscription can add up, especially if you don’t have a lot of money invested.

    Customer Experience

    It’s important to point out that Robinhood has seen a lot of negative press. It even had to pay a $70 million fine to the FINRA. The negative press is accompanied by a 1.2 out of 5-star rating on Trustpilot, with over 3,500 reviewers. Millions have reviewed the company on the Apple App Store, where it earned 4.3 out of 5 stars.

    Webull

    Webull is another app that has focused on stock trading. They were one of the first mobile apps to add a lot of charts and research into the investing process. 

    Top Features

    Webull’s highlighted features:

    • Trading resources: Webull users can tap into over 50 indicators and 20 charting tools to help you manage your portfolio. With a robust amount of information at your fingertips, you can make more informed trading decisions.
    • Fractional shares: Webull supports fractional shares on its platform.

    Webull also offers commission-free trades for stocks. But you’ll pay a 1% point spread on both sides of a crypto trade.

    Webull has a 1.3 out of 5 star Trustpilot rating, with less than 375 reviewers. But app reviews are much higher. It earned 4.6 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store, with over 188,000 reviews. And 4.7 out of 5 stars in the Apple App Store, with over 297,000 reviews.
