Collegiate Mobile is a U.S.-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) geared for college students, alumni, and sports fans looking for affordable wireless service and a way to express their school spirit. Instead of competing solely on price and features, Collegiate Mobile leans into identity by allowing users to support their favorite schools through their phone plan. It’s an intriguing concept in a highly competitive marketplace, but does the novelty translate into real value?

    What Is Collegiate Mobile?

Collegiate Mobile is a relatively new company, founded in 2025 by CEO Joe Phillips and President Gavin Dillon. It’s a brand of Moxee Technologies, LLC, a Nevada limited liability company operating as an MVNO. The company’s mission is to “help America’s colleges and universities foster deeper community engagement by connecting students, employees, alumni, and fans in innovative, new ways.“

    What Does It Offer?

Collegiate Mobile offers customizable prepaid wireless phone plans for students and fans, along with a unique model that ties your phone plan to school support.

    Student Plans

Collegiate’s student plans are designed for current students who want affordable, flexible service without being locked into long-term contracts. By emphasizing value and simplicity, the plans align with what students need most: reliable data and predictable pricing.

    Support Your School

Collegiate Mobile’s differentiator is based on a simple concept. You can use your monthly phone bill to give back to the school of your choice. When you sign up with Collegiate, you can choose to direct a percentage of your monthly bill to the school and program of your choice. You can direct Collegiate Mobile’s contributions toward athletics programs, scholarships, student wellness, and more. Overall, this is more of a feel-good perk rather than a major financial benefit for your school.

    Are There Any Fees?

Collegiate Mobile’s pricing is very straightforward (plan fees listed above). There are no contracts or credit checks required, just keep in mind that you’ll need to pay the standard taxes and regulatory fees, based on your location.

    How Does Collegiate Mobile Compare?

Before signing up with Collegiate Mobile, you’ll want to check out alternatives, like Mint Mobile and Visible by Verizon. Mint Mobile is built around aggressive pricing. You pay for multiple months up front to access the deepest discounts. Visible, on the other hand, focuses on simplicity with unlimited plans on Verizon’s network at a flat monthly price.

How Do I Open An Account?

You can get started on Collegiate Mobile’s website by selecting your school, picking your plan, and selecting a SIM card option (Physical or virtual). Because it offers prepaid plans, there’s no credit check and no long approval process. You can usually get up and running quickly, which is a plus if you’re switching from another provider.

    Is It Safe And Secure?

Collegiate Mobile operates like any other MVNO. It runs on a T-Mobile, a reliable, major carrier network. This means that your calls, texts, and data are handles on the same secure systems that the major providers use. As with any prepaid carrier, the main trade-offs are around priority speeds during network congestion, not safety.

How Do I Contact Collegiate Mobile?

Collegiate Mobile provides users with support via online chat, email (help@collegiatemobile.com), and telephone (888) 851-5235. Customer support is available during the following business hours:

    • Monday – Friday: 8 AM – 8 PM CT
    • Saturday – Sunday: 9 AM – 6 PM CT

    Is It Worth It?

Collegiate Mobile makes sense for students and alumni who like the idea of tying their phone plan to their school identity. If you’re already paying for a phone plan, the ability to give back to your college or university, even in a small way, is a nice touch and something other carriers can’t offer.

That said, if your primary focus is finding the best possible features and pricing, you’ll likely find better options from competitors like Mint Mobile, Visible, and even Tello.
Ultimately, Collegiate Mobile isn’t trying to win you over on pricing or specs, but on a sense of community. If that resonates with you, then it’s a great option. Otherwise, it could be little more than a novelty.
